When you jump into an attack heli and actually want to win fights instead of feeding, the first thing you've gotta get comfy with is rocket pods, they're your main damage tool and not just noise on your screen like some Battlefield 6 Bot Lobby farming toy. Most new pilots mash the trigger and spray the whole rack, but that just throws rockets everywhere. Pods are set up to converge roughly on the center of your crosshair at mid to long range, somewhere around 400–800 meters, and the way you angle the nose changes everything. Dip the nose and the rockets ride a bit high, pull up and they'll land low, so you've got to trim the heli level when you fire or you're just painting the sky for no reason.
Learning To Lead Your Targets
Aiming in a heli isn't really about staring at the target, it's about guessing where they're gonna be half a second from now. Once you've flown a bit, you'll catch yourself doing it without thinking. If an enemy chopper is climbing, you nudge your aim above its current line. If infantry are sprinting across an open lane, you don't track the body, you drag ahead of them and let them run into the rockets. It helps to fire one short burst per pass instead of dumping everything, because that gives you time to see the impact, correct the angle and send another clean volley. Inside 300 meters you barely notice drop, but once you're pushing 500 meters or more, you start aiming a heli-width or two in front of moving targets, especially if they're crossing you at a sharp angle.
Using The TOW Like A Sniper
The TOW missile turns your heli into a flying marksman rifle if you treat it right. A lot of players keep staring at the main crosshair when they launch, and that's why their shots wander off. When you fire, you lock onto the bright glow of the missile itself and guide that instead. It dips right after launch, so you start slightly low and then steer it up onto the target in one smooth motion. Any twitchy, jerky input will send it wide. If you keep the heli steady and just ride the glow, you can delete other helis or AA vehicles from crazy ranges, something like a kilometre out. The cooldown sits around seven seconds, so between TOW shots you swing back to rockets, strafing armor and soft targets so you're never just waiting around.
Teamwork And Seat Swapping
When you've got a gunner who knows what they're doing, the heli turns into a proper two-man setup instead of a solo ego trip. The new zoom-lock feature is huge here, because it keeps the gunner's aim stable even if the pilot's wobbling a bit while dodging fire. Gunner rounds travel faster than pods, but you still need to call out movement so they can lead properly. It usually works best if the gunner focuses on infantry and light vehicles first, using splash to clean up clusters, while the pilot picks targets for armor and enemy air. If you're flying solo and the air is calm, you can seat-swap at high altitude to drop a few bursts on a tank or a clustered squad, but you've got to respect how risky it is, one badly timed swap and you're spinning into the ground.
Staying Alive And Controlling The Fight
Survival is what really separates decent pilots from the ones who only do well in some boosted lobby where they buy Bf6 bot lobby style safety. Your throttle is basically your life bar, pushing up for lift and dropping to break locks or dive behind cover. Hovering in the open is almost always a mistake, people on the ground love a heli that just hangs there. You want to work the map edges, use ridges, buildings and canyon walls to mask your approach, pop out just long enough to fire, then swing back into cover before AA or enemy jets get a good line on you. Save your flares for when a missile is actually in the air, not just when you hear the first lock tone, because wasting them early usually means the next missile hits. If you keep your routes unpredictable, don't get greedy after a good run and always think about your exit before you start your attack, you'll find you spend way more time flying and a lot less time staring at the respawn screen.
