MLB The Show 26 Live Series Investment Guide Stock Up on Stubs for Less at U4GM

Ngl, the dumbest thing after the May 10, 2024 ratings update was watching people nuke their whole stub stack three minutes after the drop. I've been getting mine from MLB The Show 26 stubs when I'm short for flips, but I'm still not burning 8k on an 85 just because the border turned blue. Tyler Glasnow, Gunnar Henderson, William Contreras, and Ketel Marte going Diamond is cool. Paying peak hype price for them is not.

The Friday panic is real

I tested the market a bit after the update, and the same pattern showed up again. Golds that were sitting under 1,000 stubs suddenly jumped because Diamond quick sell is 3,000. Everyone sees the new 85+ and acts like the card is instantly goated. But most of these settle once the first wave of collection guys finish panic-buying. If you missed the investment window, don't chase. Wait 48 to 72 hours. Trust me, you'll usually save enough to grab another Gold flip on the side.

Some of these cards actually play though

I'm not saying they're all collection trash. Gunnar at 85 is legit usable if you don't already have a cracked shortstop. I ran him for a few Ranked games and his swing still feels smooth, even if the meta is already pushing into silly 95-99 stuff. Glasnow's K/9 getting bumped to 94 matters too. On Hall of Fame, that smaller PCI effect is nasty when you're tunneling fastball and curve. Could be me coping, but he got more ugly swings than his old Gold ever did.

Contreras might be the sneaky one

Most people I saw were yelling about Gunnar and Glasnow, but William Contreras got the kind of buff that actually changes at-bats. Contact and Power vs righties both feel way better now. Defense still isn't amazing, so don't expect him to become some brick wall back there. But for a catcher bat? He slaps. In my runs, I care way more about not having a dead spot in the 8-hole than having perfect blocking every inning.

Watch the almost-Diamonds instead

The real move, imo, is looking at the guys sitting 83-84 now. Tarik Skubal and Shota Imanaga getting bumped puts them right on the edge for the next update. That's where the better stub play is, not buying Ketel Marte after everyone already saw the + to 86. I also wouldn't panic-sell guys who didn't move. SDS loves waiting for more games before pushing Silver to Gold or Gold to Diamond. Not sure exactly how they weigh clutch, because that stat still feels like hidden OVR sauce sometimes.

BR and collections are the annoying part

The part I haven't tested much is how these new Diamonds feel in BR draft pools, so someone correct me if I'm off. A Gold turning Diamond can mess with draft rounds, and that matters for 12-0 grinders. For collections, yeah, Orioles, Dodgers, Brewers, and D-backs got more expensive overnight. I ended up finding MLB The Show 26 packs while checking prices for my own account, but RNG still hates me so I'm not pretending packs fix bad timing. Don't buy the update hype instantly unless you need the collection right now, just wanted to put this out there.
